Paper Pieced Halloween

There's no stamping on this one!
This was a little different for me... I found these images online, and instead of purchasing I copied the idea and hand drew the pieces. What do ya think?? I thought it turned out pretty good for my first try at drawing!

I found this cute little Halloween poem a few years back and stumbled upon it while I was cleaning. I just had to use it on a card, and this was perfect.

Thinking of you...

I have taken a little break from my Halloween crafting spree... I'm kind of in a frenzy these days... I am starting up at the hospital here in town in just a few days! So I'm trying to do as much as I can because I know I won't have as much free time on my hands once I start working. Anyway, here is a simple card. I used Basic Grey paper--I think the paper says it all! Using decorative paper sure takes the bulk of the work out of making a card! On the scalloped oval I used a combo of Pomegranite ink and Gold metallic ink. I lightly sponged the edges and around the saying to give it a more antique look. Actually my first idea was to dip the edges into gold EP. But, its been so long since I have embossed I couldn't find my Gold EP!! Its buried somewhere around here. I probably won't ever find it in my heap of an organized mess.... *sigh*

I perused through my book of Lasting Impressions templates the other day and found cute fall themed templates that have never been used! With this card I used both a normal dry embossing technique and a reverse technique. The reverse technique is done by putting the paper you are embossing face up on the template. This reverses the line from being raised to indented. The pumpkins on this one were done with this technique. When I scuffed them (sand paper) I go over the indented areas just as you normally would and it creates a negative, if you will, appearance. The ground was done by tearing paper and sponging it with Close to Cocoa ink.

If The Shoe Fits!

I started digging through my craft stash and stumbled over my Lasting Impressions Halloween brass templates. I have collected so many of them over the years. Sometimes its hard to choose which ones I want to use! I love these witchy feet! They are super cute! I used a combo of SU papers and LI papers, some stickles and brads. I didn't dry emboss the shoes. The stockings were dry embossed and then I put the stickles over the top. The saying is dry embossed and sponged with Green Galore ink. I can't imagine sending this out to someone unless they had a really good sense of humor! LOL It's cute though.

Halloween Candy!

Halloween Candy Box

This little box was quick and easy to make. You can find the directions HERE. These would be great to make for party favors... or something for the kids at school... They look difficult to make but are fairly simple.

The recipe:

• Acetate sheets
• DCWV Halloween cardstock
• SU Pumpkin and W White CS
• Booglie Eyes set
• Stickles
• SU markers
• SU Black ink
• Tacky Tape (red tape), or Pioneer tape work good for adhering the acetate together
• Ribbon
• Peanut M & M's

Halloween candy pots

I just thought I'd share these little guys. I made these a couple years ago. I'm not much of a painter, but these are really fun to make. I used 4 inch clay pots. They were glued together using E6000. Also included are spoon sticks, spools, tear drop shapes, wigglie eyes. Frankie is a little scraped up from being used so much! On the mummy, I used torn strips of muslin. Muslin is hard to wrap to shape the pot so you have to twist and glue, twist and glue--very challenging! The strips are sponged with SU Close to Cocoa ink. I suppose I could have done more with the face--oh well.

Ghoul's Night Out!

Oh boy, I had fun with this one! The best part of this project was breaking out the chocolate!! I filled this one with Hershey's Miniatures, and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. The ghost is a covered Tootsie Roll pop. It always seems like I have almost every candy to give out around Halloween. We get so many trick-or-treaters that I have to buy TONS of candy... This is a good thing! That means I have a reason to make more Halloween goodies! :) I absolutely love how this one turned out. It's not at all what I had imagined when I first started...

The black band around the middle is crimped...you can't see it very well with the photo...

Thanks card

I had to steer away from my Halloween frenzy for a bit to make a thank you card. I have had this Linen Designer paper sitting around for a while and finally decided to use it. I also pulled out my Technique Tuesday line designs. I REALLY love this set! The more I used the stitching stamp the more I fell in love with it. I am also an avid quilter, so actually using my sewing machine for paper stitching is unfathomable to me. It ruins the machine and dries the shaft up which, in turn, can cause it to make some really funky noises! But in any case I really LOVE this stitching stamp. I also love it because I don't have to find different colors of thread (another thing I would have to collect all colors of, of course) to use for stitching. In any case, I can definitely see me using this fun stamp alot in the future!

Halloween Popcorn Bags

Ok, first of all I have to confess.... I NEVER make things for Halloween!! I have purchased and purchased, but with me being in college for the past 4 years, my crafts have taken a back seat. And my mind is going crazy with all sorts of ideas for Halloween. So hang on because I have quite a few ideas I have to put to paper!! In the meantime, here are these cool little treats.....

These are fun to give out this time of year! This microwave popcorn pack is regular sized. Around Halloween there are the mini size popcorn packs for sale. This size shown takes 1/2 sheet of cardstock.

• Xyron Machine and Dazzling Diamonds glitter

For the ghost, just take the die cut and run it through your Xyron, peel the paper back and cover with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter. I put a small piece of black CS on the back for the eyes.

Treat Pouches

Here are some really cute treat pouches. This is the same as the pencil pouch pattern only shorter. I used 1/4 sheet cardstock. If you score them at 1 7/8 and 1 7/8 you get a 1/2 inch left over. The half inch is used for the fold over closure. The bottom is also sealed with craft tape. The ends are crimped. The hole at the top was made using a circle punch, only cutting out 1/2 circle. I stuffed Extra gum into these ones. I'm sure you could put large tootsie rolls, pixie sticks, licorice, or anything of the like in them. They are quick and easy to make!

Halloween note pad

This little note pad was super easy to make. The note pad came in a 2-pack from Target. I purchased a TON of these little guys a long time ago and I'm just now decorating them! I never had the time to do it. I thought it would be fun to decorate one for Halloween.

• Bo Bunny bkgd paper
• SU W White, B Black CS
• SU O Orange refill and aqua painter dipped in blender refill
• Ribbon from Martha Stewart

After folding and gluing the bkgd paper, I put a piece of B Black CS (fit to size) just on the inside cover over the seams. I love the fact that the word MUMMY pops out at you! That wasn't even planned!

Have you ever had this?

I have been having some health issues that the doctors have not been able to figure out. But because I'm a nurse, I have done some research and have my theories. Back in Feb I started having a lump in my throat. The lump has not gone away. In fact, it is getting bigger. I really didn't think anything of it because the doctors thought it was due to stress, and school, yadda, yadda. In the past 6 weeks I have been noticing symptoms of increased heart rate sometimes up to 140 beats/minute. Been in th ED 2 times, and having episodes of these palpitations, dizziness, and shortness of breath. It hit me while sitting in the ED. Could his be my thyroid? Doctors said its not the thyroid because hormones are normal. So here I am stupified about this situation. I got curious a couple weeks ago and did a google search and found that I could have problems with my thyroid and still have normal levels--something that the doctors don't have a clue about (I guess thats not their specialty). While researching, I found that the symptoms (SOB, increased HR, dizziness, fullness in the neck, ears hurting, but nothing felt on the outside, normal hormone levels) could be indicative of a thyroid cyst, nodule, or cancer. I went in yesterday for a CT scan but I won't know the results until Monday. This is killing me!! Not knowing what to expect is so difficult. My question to you is: Do you know anyone who has had anything like this? If you do, please email me privately at slbevard89@msn.com . I would appreciate any input, or inspiration regarding this.
