Ribbon Idea 1

I found this idea in MM Ribbonrie book. Its full of great ribbon ideas. Anyway, the idea is to use your rub-ons on your ribbon!! Who would have thunk?!? So I tried it. Its alot of fun! You just have to find the right size of ribbon to work with. I still have yet to use rub-ons on grosgrain. I'm gonna give it a shot, but I'm not sure how it will work out. I love this little giraffe! And I love this color combo.

Tip: When you apply the rub-on you will have to rub harder than usual with the rub-ons. Take your time and make sure that everything is sticking to the ribbon the way it should.

Recipe:
  • SU Pixie Pink, Pretty in Pink, W White, Bazzill apricot CS
  • Wordsworth Rub-ons

Blender Pen Refill Recipe and Technique

Just FYI....

This is the recipe I use for the blender pen refill:

1 part glycerin (can be found at walmart)
2 parts distilled water
1/4 tsp of rubbing alcohol

Or you can use this one:

2 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons glycerin
5 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon rubbing alcohol

This can be really messy, so store it in an airtight container... Even those have a tendency to leak... I use one of the tiny tupperware cups. I have had my refill mix for a really long time--just that tiny little bit!

If you use the refill recipe with your ink refills, I personally like to just dip the tip of the aqua painter into the blender pen refill and mix it on a palate with a small amount of ink (instead of filling the painter with the blender refill fluid). I usually have scratch paper to the side to dab off the extra ink and to play around with the colors. I also have a small container of water to rinse the painter off.. Give it a try!!

Glittery Lace Tutorial

This is a technique I learned a few years back. To do this you need:

  1. A xyron machine, or sticker sheet(I personally have never used a sticker sheet so I'm not sure how it will turn out--The xyron is great!)
  2. Two colors of glitter
  3. White cardstock
  4. Your choice of fabric lace, or lace that will fit the sheet you are decorating. The nice thing about the lace is that it can be reused!
  5. Whatever else you need to decorate your card.

This is very easy to do:

  1. Make sure you are ready to get glitter all over you!
  2. I used 1/4 sheet of cardstock and ran it through the sticker maker cartridge in my xyron machine.
  3. Pull the plastic film off and pull the paper from the adhesive sheet.
  4. Lay the cardstock sticker side up.
  5. Place the lace over the top of the adhesive. Turn it over and press it down. And just to make sure, check the front and make sure your lace is sitting flat.
  6. Here is the important part: You have to use your darkest color first. So sprinkle your dark color over the top of the lace. You may have to sprinkle a few times to get good coverage.
  7. When you are done, flick the back and get most of the extra glitter off, and then press the paper face down to help the glitter stick.
  8. Peel the lace off of the cardstock.
  9. Then sprinkle your lighter color over the top. Dust off the extra glitter and press face down again.
  10. Give it a try!!!

Here is the card I came up with using this technique! It is so much prettier in person! Click on the card to see it up close...
