Toadally Blue...

I didn't have much time to stamp today... The idea for this card has been in my head for days and I finally got it out on paper.... The inside says "without you"..

Quick Birthday cards

I put these together this morning for a birthday party for two of my nephews. They are super quick to make...

• Doodlebug and SU ribbon

• Circle punches

Gift Card Holder

I found the pattern for this gift card holder over at Cambria Turnbow's blog. I wasn't sure that the gift card would fit inside, but it does!! I'm definitely making more of these! They will come in handy at Christmas time...

Supplies include:

• Crate Paper patterned paper
• SU Chocolate Chip and Vanilla CS
• SU Certainly Celery and Chocolate Chip inks
• SU The Art Of Life stamp set
• SU Taupe ribbon

Glittery Lace Tutorial

This is a technique I learned a few years back. To do this you need:

1. A xyron machine, or sticker sheet(I personally have never used a sticker sheet so I'm not sure how it will turn out--The xyron is great!)
2. Two colors of glitter
3. White cardstock
4. Your choice of fabric lace, or lace that will fit the sheet you are decorating. The nice thing about the lace is that it can be reused!
5. Whatever else you need to decorate your card.

This is very easy to do:

1. Make sure you are ready to get glitter all over you!
2. I used 1/4 sheet of cardstock and ran it through the sticker maker cartridge in my xyron machine.
3. Pull the plastic film off and pull the paper from the adhesive sheet.
4. Lay the cardstock sticker side up.
5. Place the lace over the top of the adhesive. Turn it over and press it down. And just to make sure, check the front and make sure your lace is sitting flat.
6. Here is the important part: You have to use your darkest color first. So sprinkle your dark color over the top of the lace. You may have to sprinkle a few times to get good coverage.
7. When you are done, flick the back and get most of the extra glitter off, and then press the paper face down to help the glitter stick.
8. Peel the lace off of the cardstock.
9. Then sprinkle your lighter color over the top. Dust off the extra glitter and press face down again.
10. Give it a try!!!

Gift Box

I had a pre-cut coluzzle box sitting around and thought I'd decorated it. I had a little trouble with the stickles on this one. It was a little challenging, and I really didn't have the patience today... The stickles look really great against the light, but look speckly (is that a word?) when its not.

Groovy Bella and Fella

I sat down for a bit last night. I really wanted to play with these Scenic Route papers. I love them!! These aren't colors I would normally choose.. I had alot of fun with them.

Splitcoast Stampers RAKs

I received a couple of RAKs from Splitcoast stampers RAK group. Here are the cards I received. Thanks ladies!!

The first one is by Gretchen Belknap. I love the colors she used. She also used a Cuttlebug mini embossing folder. I also love the paper!!

The second one is by Wanda Gebhardt. I can never come up with black and white cards. I love the Cuttlebug (who'da thunk! LOL), and The ribbon is great with this card!

Incognito

I'm still here! I just got done with a really hectic week. I've been spending most of my days down at the oncology unit helping with infusions. I finally got the paper done and out of the way. Now I have a little bit of time over the weekend to just relax! Hopefully I'll get to stamp! Sometimes being in such a demanding program is hard on everyone--especially the kids. They don't get to spend much time with mom. So this weekend is devoted to spending some much needed time with my kids and trying to have fun! I just received a new order of Bellas and can't wait to play with them. Hopefully I can get crafty real soon!!

Anniversary

27 years ago to day this beauty blew her top! Here is a picture of Mt St Helens now... (taken off the WA Parks and Recreation website)

She still lets out a cloud of steam every once in a while. A couple years back we witnessed her blow off a big plume of ash... I have pictures somewhere of the plume that we saw from our house. Mt St Helens is directly east of us approximately 24 miles... Kinda scary when you think about it! We didn't live here 27 years ago. This town was nothing but a huge ball of ash. Even to this day we have ash over the ground. It makes really great soil for some of my plants--they grow like crazy! If you drive up Spirit Lake Highway to the mountain, you can still see the downed trees from the unbelievable mud flow that plowed through the rivers coming off the mountain. When she blew a couple of years ago it was quite amazing--all of the rivers turned up with ash floating in them--they were all very gray and ominous-looking. We didn't even attempt to fish in those rivers! There are tons of websites around about the mountain. Here are a few: Mt St Helens site 1, and Mt St Helens Site 2 ...

Today she is at an alert level of 2 (orange)--meaning she is still fairly active. Level 3 (red) means that she's gonna blow!

Here are more websites: This one has alot of the history... Here are some great pics! This one is about one of the local tourist attractions--the Ape Caves. Sounds funny LOL. But these are lava tubes. They are very cool---literally! We have gone to the ape caves several times. It is a cave under ground made by lava flows 1900 years ago! We went one time when it was over 100 degrees outside. You literally had to take your heavy coat with you. The caves are ice cold and are so interesting inside. What an experience!

I was 9 years old when the mountain blew. I lived 100 miles south of it and could still see the plume. I think you could even see it further than that. As a kid I was just fascinated by the volcano and scooped up as much ash as I could.. It was a hot item to have back then!

New Pet

We have a new pet!! I call him Froggy-boy. Every night around 9 pm I hear him just outside my back door croaking his heart out. When you stand outside my house at night, you can hear hundreds of frogs croaking. Its the most soothing sound...at least to me!! Anyway, we found this little guys hiding spot and played around with him for a while... Mean huh?!? They are so much fun! I didn't get a good picture of it, but when we were holding him he puffed all up-- His whole body and his croaker thing.. (dunno what those are called--you know, the thing under their chin?!?) If you know what it's called, I would like to know!!

May Flowers

I took a few pictures today of my clematis out in the back yard. It has taken me three years to get this plant this far! They are not quick growing vines! Anyway, today was a pretty day in the great NW--a great day for pictures!

Cuttlebug Tips

I found this on the Cuttlebug website. They have a discussion about using the small 2 x 2 embossing folders. If you have used them, you know that you get the shape of a square around the image after embossing with the Cuttlebug. On the blog site, they show how to use chipboard to help get rid of the square impression.. Click HERE to see!

I also found this on their blog: Cuttlebug stacks ... One was posted April 25, 2007, and the other April 13, 2007. It lists all the different dies and how to use them with the Cuttlebug...
